This pretty much summarize how the idea of the Movem products aimed at the social dance community came to be. But, why even bother? Creating products must be hard? Yes. True. Here is the story of the Movem brand and one dancers quest for the perfect gear for dancing, and how it is now getting available for every dancer!

The Movem story started when I fell in love with Kizomba during the summer of 2015 when I started to dance as much as possible. At this time, in Stockholm, there were social dancing available almost every day, and I went to all the classes, all the dances and all the workshops. I started to develop and one year later, I started teaching. There were many hundred hours of dancing I discovered some problems. There were no good solutions on many of the problems i found as a dancer. There were a lot of unsolved problems and put simply, a lot of products were missing for me as a dancer.

I have no prior experience of designing products, move a project to production or the business model of marketing and selling products. My profession is the one of being a UX-designer. My specialty to make IT systems, apps and sites nice to look at and easy to use, not to design physical objects. But, I have worked many years as a consultant and designed not only web sites and apps, but also my own summer house on Öland. So, How hard could it be?

Problem 1: There is no good clothing for dancing.

The first problem I tried to solve was the lack of decent clothing for dancing. Especially for men. I am a heavy sweater, when I dance I perspirate a lot and the experience of dancing in cotton is utterly dreadful. Functional materials found in gym clothing is great for workouts, but the sporty designs and big fitness brand logos are not really what I would like to go dancing in.

After years of research into materials textile production and intense product testing I we can now offer the Movem Dance wear. A straight forward and minimalistic collection of base items perfect as the base of every dancers wardrobe.

Problem 2: There is no good dancing shoes!

Dancing shoes, especially for leaders, is a mess. Looking for sweet shoes wonderful for dancing, no problem. The main problem is that the shoes needs to be comfortable for hours of dancing, look cool and have a sole that is gliding and not sticking on the floor. Very few dedicated dancing shoes are available for street dancing and even if it was something cool, all dancers has their own idea about what style to wear, color and model. , Making a social dancing shoe for everyone is simply not possible.

Most people dance in sneakers, Street shoes are almost perfect for dancing, but there is one big problem. Sneakers are made to stick to the floor and we dancers need a perfect glide. We are forced to emarras ourselves with puting duck tape on our shoes or poor enormous ammounts of pouder on the floor to be able to dance properly.

Our solution, after years of research and testing is the Movem Soles.
